Elizabeth has worked in diverse social service communities to include but not limited to tenant services, persons with disabilities, out of school youth ages 16-24, and adult women and men with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders who are at-risk or living with HIV. As a case manager / treatment navigator, she has served as an advocate, helped individuals navigate medical and social services environments, remove related barriers to care, and provide practical and emotional support.
Elizabeth is the founder of Lyzee’s Hope, a non-profit platform dedicated to inspiring women and building healthy families. Brown is also an entrepreneur, self-published Author of “And On The 7th Day, She Rests…” and sequel “…She Rests, Theophelia… Elizabeth is an Empowerment Speaker with over 20 years of community development experience serving in faith-based organizations, social services, communities, and schools. Brown started in grass roots organizations she grew up in as a child and immediately took on leadership roles as a trainer, teacher, mentor, and coach.
Elizabeth loves to read and travel. Her life goals include visiting each of the United States, stamping all the pages of her passport, and sprinting 400 meters with her daughter. Elizabeth is a graduate of Sacramento City College with an Associate of Arts in Social Services Community Development, and Augusta State University, Bachelor of Social Work, Sociology minor.
Elizabeth is a Member of New Leaders Council Augusta, HOPE Program Advisory Council, and Beulah Grove Baptist Church.

Romelia: WHAT IS THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF YOUR ARTISTIC PROCESS?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: The most difficult part of the artistic process for me is deciding which writing genre I will use for my book series and sequels.
Romelia: DOES YOUR FAMILY SUPPORT YOUR CAREER AS A WRITER?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: My immediate and extended family all support my career as a writer.
Romelia: IF YOU HAD TO DO SOMETHING DIFFERENTLY AS A CHILD OR TEENAGER TO BECOME A BETTER WRITER AS AN ADULT, WHAT WOULD YOU DO?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: To become a better writer as an adult, I would have spent more time having candid conversations with my parents and grandparents as a child.
Romelia: HOW LONG ON AVERAGE DOES IT TAKE YOU TO WRITE A BOOK?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: The time it takes me to write a book varies on several things to include the creative flow in my mind at the time. It’s possible for me to write a book in a week, yet very realistically can take a year with editing and personal confirmation that it’s a good time to release it.
Romelia: DO YOU BELIEVE IN WRITER’S BLOCK?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: I definitely believe in and have experienced writer’s block. I’ve learned to be patient in all seasons. Sometimes I’m not able get my brain to stop flowing, while others I am not able to make it create an idea.
Romelia: AT WHAT POINT DO YOU THINK SOMEONE SHOULD CALL THEMSELVES A WRITER?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: I believe a person should call themselves a writer when they start drafting a story even if it’s never published.
Romelia: WHAT DIFFERENCE DO YOU SEE BETWEEN A WRITER AND AN AUTHOR?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: I believe a writer is a person that can draft words together for an intended purpose. (speech, novel, etc.) To me an author is someone whose work is published, creative, and may or may not be true.
Romelia: HOW DO YOU PROCESS AND DEAL WITH NEGATIVE BOOK REVIEWS?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: I process and deal with negative book reviews the same way I process positive book reviews; as something to consider, understanding that everything isn’t for everyone.
Romelia: WHAT IS THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF YOUR WRITING PROCESS?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: The most difficult part of the writing process for me is giving closure to the story and deciding that it’s ready for publishing.
Romelia: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN WRITING OR WHEN DID YOU START?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: I’ve been writing since I learned to write in elementary school.
Romelia: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO A WRITER WORKING ON THEIR FIRST BOOK?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: To a writer working on their first book, I would advise them to ask questions and be authentic to themselves throughout the process.
Romelia: WHAT, TO YOU, ARE THE MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENTS OF GOOD WRITING?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: To me, Good writing is clear, practical, and timeless.
Romelia: WHAT COMES FIRST FOR YOU – THE PLOT OR THE CHARACTERS – AND WHY?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: The characters usually come first for me and then the plot. I’m an advocate for people and create characters that give a voice on purpose with purpose.
Romelia: HOW DO YOU DEVELOP YOUR PLOT AND CHARACTERS?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: I believe my development of plot and characters are a natural gift from observation and discernment.
Romelia: WHEN DID YOU FIRST CALL YOURSELF A WRITER?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: I don’t think I started referring to myself as a writer until after I published my second book.
Romelia: HOW DO YOU USE SOCIAL MEDIA AS AN AUTHOR?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: I use social media as an author for exposure.
Romelia: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE PART OF PUBLISHING?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: My favorite part of publishing is finally being able to share my work with others and receiving feedback. My least favorite part of publishing is the editing. It can be timely.
Romelia: WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO AN AUTHOR WHO WANTED TO DESIGN THEIR OWN COVER?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: If an author can design a professional book cover on their own, I would encourage them to. If not, I would suggest they invest in someone that could.
Romelia: HOW MANY BOOKS HAVE YOU WRITTEN AND WHICH IS YOUR FAVORITE?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: I’ve written 3 books and I believe the third book that my daughter and I collaborated on will be my favorite ultimately, but right now they are all my favorite.
Romelia: WHAT PART OF THE BOOK DID YOU HAVE THE HARDEST TIME WRITING?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: The beginning is usually the hardest part of the book for me to write. I usually write the beginning last.
Romelia: WHAT PART OF THE BOOK WAS THE MOST FUN TO WRITE?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: The middle of book is usually the funniest to write because it is a free flow.
Romelia: WHICH OF THE CHARACTERS DO YOU RELATE TO THE MOST AND WHY?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: I can relate to all the characters that I have written about in different seasons of my life.
Romelia: IF YOU’RE PLANNING A SEQUEL. CAN YOU SHARE A TINY BIT ABOUT YOUR PLANS FOR IT?
Elizabeth Hope Brown: I’m writing a seven-book series and have already completed 2 sequels, 3 books total. Each book stands alone but continues from book one.
Romelia: TELL US SOMETHING FUNNY ABOUT YOUR ADULT LIFE.
Elizabeth Hope Brown: The funny thing about my adult life is that I still have big kid moments. I still love the ice cream truck, Christmas lights, and watching a Charlie Brown thanksgiving and Christmas.
Romelia: describe yourself in a few sentences. Tell us something we do not know about you and something you hate about the world.
Elizabeth Hope Brown: Most people don’t realize that I am very sociable but can be very introverted at times. I rarely if ever use the word hate and truly pray that the world keeps human kindness at its focus point.
